I remember all the good times from last year and thought about what I could do to make this new year better than last. I entered the new year with these thoughts. As always, I woke up early in the morning, took my bath, and took out tulsi leaves to worship. I sang mantras on Shiva Bhagwan and offered Haldi (turmeric) and kumkum (vermilion). I started the day by reciting shlokas (verses) with my friends.

Then we went to the beautiful temple nearby. There we were greeted by melodious birdsong that had started to sing early in the morning. Inside the temple were people from different places chanting (Jai Ganesh) and offering flowers, sweets, fruits, etc. to God. That made me very happy and I know this is going to be a great New Year!

After praying in the temple, we took a winter morning walk in the garden and saw snow-covered trees and grass. It looked very nice and we were all glad that this new year brought us such a beautiful day. We wished each other a Happy New Year and went back to our homes happy.
